Fellow SBARC Members:
Some of you may have seen information about an FCC Notice of Proposed Rulemaking which proposes to impose a $50 application fee for all transactions with the FCC Universal Licensing System. This would mean implementing a $50 fee to apply for and renew an amateur radio license.
This will have a very serious chilling effect on our hobby and service if implemented. While $5/year may not seem like much for a 10-year license term, having to pay $50 (+ $15 for ARRL VE testing), could mean far fewer interest from new hams, especially younger prospects, and an inability for existing hams with fixed and low incomes to afford renewals.
I hope you will take a few moments to leave public comments on the FCC. Click the link below and then click the + Express link in the left sidebar to pre-fill the form with the correct docket number.

The FCC does listen to public comments. Taking a few moments now could mean the difference between preserving amateur radio well into the future or seeing its elimination in the near term.

Subject: Antenna Donation
Hello Levi,
I am wondering if the club would be interested in a antenna that I will be moving next month. Please take a look at the attached photos and let me know if the club has any interest. There would be NO COST to the club.
I am a club member still working on my license.
Thanks,
John Espinoza

I have about the last three years of QST that are heading to recycle. If
anyone wants them, let me know. This could happen by Wednesday when
trash gets picked up here.
Thanks!

I've known Sig since the time he was working for Brown Medical back
circa 1980 where I was also making some of their circuit boards. I also
made some of the circuit boards used in his reflow machines when he
moved out to the airport. He has always been one of my favorite people
since he embodied (to me) how a gentleman always acted.
His stories about his time in Norway in WWII times were always fun to
listen to (they are also related in his book.) My favorite was when the
Germans were coming house to house searching for radios. He took the
radio and "stored" it in the latrine. For some reason, the Germans never
checked that thus saving his and his families lives. Sig gave a most
entertaining talk at a SBARC meeting some years ago where he told about
his ham radio times (among other things.)
I was happy to hear that Kale (his son) took over running Sakama when
Sig retired a few years ago.
Sig, you will be missed!!!
