1) Santa Barbara Independent coverage of K6TZ Field Day:
http://www.independent.com/news/2015/jul/21/amateur-radio-club-competes-fie…
Please note, someone named John Kendall put what I believe is an erroneous
comment at the bottom of this article. It needs to be corrected. Can
someone with knowledge about the radios in the shack please submit a
response (politely, despite his demeanor)? Is there really a marine radio
in there? Perhaps someone could submit the exact radio and model number
and capabilities (not marine?) in a reply (assuming he's referencing the
one that the left-most operator is using??). Or, let me know, and I can
submit.
2) Below is a summary of the Field Day entry form that I submitted this
morning. It is due by 2059UTC today. If anyone sees any
errors/corrections, please let me know [by calling me at 685-2030 as I'll
be away from email]. I submitted 176 points for the below listed contacts,
which includes bonus points for media coverage (thanks, Brian), and bonus
points for submitting results via the ARRL web site. The form requests the
number of participants but I'm not sure how many operators we had (Theo,
who ran the event - thanx!, Leigh, me, and a new member/visitor who brought
his son [sorry - forgot name]) - any I missed? I'm not sure who is
pictured in the article at left - perhaps another operator I missed?
Sincerely,
Ken Alker

Hello SBARC Amateurs -
I have decided to take my efforts to improve the communications
within the Section to the next level and I am turning to my friends
in the Santa Barbara area for support. I am running for the position
of Section Manager of the ARRL Santa Barbara Section and would
appreciate you considering me for that position.
After sharing my goals with a large segment of the members of the
Section, I found the desire to have a choice in this election was
overwhelming. Many others believe the Santa Barbara Section will
greatly benefit from efforts to improve the sharing of information
and the promotion of teamwork. It is agreed that we need to
effectively promote leadership efforts and work to incorporate new
Hams into the community. The success in doing this will require the
efforts of a lot of you, but I am willing to provide active
leadership. Will you join me?
My goals and background are discussed in the attached flyer, and you
can learn more about what I have done in the past by looking at my
<http://www.qrz.com/db/k6iyk>QRZ Bio.
ARRL Members will receive a Ballot in the mail in early October. I
ask for your vote and encourage you to promptly send in your
Ballot. If you do not know me, just ask your fellow SBARC
Members. I believe they will give me a good recommendation. I will
also try to attend the next Club Meeting so we can meet.
Questions or comments may be directed to

Thank You Very Much,
- Jim Fortney - K6IYK
The club station has a complete set of Key-Klix in binders on the shelf
that Michael Ditmore set up. I'm pretty sure they are complete. The
station would not need another set.

I discovered the signed Proclamations by City and County in a storage
box without packing material to protect them at the cargo container.
Figuring no one wanted these two anymore I retrieved them. They are now
mounted at the Repeater equipment shelter in a conspicuous position. The
Proclamations look very presentable at the shelter for visitors to see.
Dave is aware they are posted at the repeater shelter.
Recently a nearby neighbor came on site. He and his wife were concerned
about RadHaz since they have several children. Gave them a short tour. I
noticed their eyes looked at the Proclamations and got their attention
who we were and what we do. It made the conversation much easier after
an explanation about RadHaz and willing to disclose RF levels and
testing responsibility. They departed and satisfied with our
explanations. Received a nice email with thanks.

Thanks to all of you who have responded. Jay has agreed to pick them up and said he would scan a few at a time to share with everyone on the web site.
I think everyone will enjoy revisiting SBARC's history and remembering the good times and people.

I replied to Lou. If nobody else wants this, I'll take it. Is there a volunteer to take it to Tunnel Road, where I store things locally?
