Reg Dawe Memorial Cuckoo Net
by Michael Reynolds, NO6O
Come participate with the Reg Dawe Memorial Cuckoo Net, Monday through
Friday from 0700 until 0820, on the following linked repeaters:
146.79
MHz (La Vigia Hill)
223.92 MHz (Santa Cruz Island)
224.08 MHz (La Cumbre
Peak)
Minus offset, PL 131.8
Started in 1984, this morning net served as
a means to keep in touch with Reg Dawe, W6HUT, an eldery ham who had been
an elmer to many local hams. The tradition has continued since then.
From
0700 until 0800, all things are discussed, from weather, traffic alerts,
QSOs, SBARC business, news, and all else. Anyone, anywhere, and any topic.
It's a very friendly and welcoming net.
Then, at precisely 0800, the net
host, Dennis Schwendtner, WB6OBB, officially opens the net, with a chime
from his cuckoo clock. This is followed by a roll call, where many people
provide a weather report from their location, and news as necessary.
