Automatic identification System (AIS) NEWS

Independently operated SBARC AIS stations 533 at the Mesa site and 1360 at Santa Ynez Peak were amongst the top 10 percentile worldwide at 99.0% and 99.4% availability. Worldwide over 2400 stations report vessel locations. Both stations have been elevated to Fleet Admiral status by AIS.

SBARC stations augment data used by the County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) and Vessel Speed Reduction Program (VSRP).

MarineTraffic Contributors’ Contest 2015 Results

Stations are sorted according to their rank on 12/21/2015. Ranks have been assigned to the stations according the rules of the contest. Prizes will be given to the winners, according to this table. All station IDs registered on our database automatically participated in the contest, excluding aggregate feeds, hidden stations and stations operated directly by MarineTraffic employees.

Ranks will continue to be assigned as an indicator of a station’s performance, even after the end of the contest.
All stations ranked as Captain or Fleet Admiral win an exclusive USB stick based on the MarineTraffic logo. Also they enter two separate raffles on the 22nd of December 2015, for special prizes.
