Greetings,

The next event that the Santa Barbara Amateur Radio Club will support is the Santa Barbara Century Bike Ride.  This event is on Saturday, October 19th. It starts and finishes at Leadbetter Beach.  There will be a Beer Garden at the finishing area.  This is a tough one with a timed hill climb from the base of Gibraltor Road all the way to the top.  Those who choose that route will be part of the 100 mile Century Ride.  There is also a 100 kilometer ride (66 miles) and a low lands ride within Goleta, Santa Barbara, and Carpinteria that  is referred to as the “Foothill ride”.  All in all we need several ham operators to help out for this event.  This is the 4th year of this event.  The first two we did not support.  The Race Director did not know of our services.  Since then he has been in constant contact with me and he thinks we are invaluable.  He is all too happy to have us.  There will be T-shirts. For more information please visit the event website:

The ride starts between 700 and 800 in the morning and the course closes at 1800.  If you are available for all or have, please get back to me and let me know if you can do mornings, afternoons or all of it. Please get back to me even if you have already said you would be there.
