Looking for something to watch on TV? I came across these two relatively new ham-related films last week. Amateur radio and space communications with Russian spacecraft are featured heavily in both. I think hams will especially them.

Sergio & Sergei (2017) ~90 min
YouTube Trailer: https://youtu.be/3LpcSDJqcDI
Amazon Prime Video $3.99: https://amzn.to/3ar7Mex

Sergio is a professor and amateur radio operator. His Jewish-American contact Peter sends him a modern radio and through it, Sergio contacts and befriends Sergei, a Soviet cosmonaut in Mir space station. Meanwhile, a failed coup brings the end of the Soviet Union and Sergei is trapped aboard the MIR. This film is in English, Spanish and Russian so turn on the caption/titles unless you are fluent in all three :-)

Voskhod (2015) ~ 30 min
Entire 30-min film is free on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnMqT8QbvaM

After repairing his ham radio using a tube that he found at an apparent crash site in the forest, a recluse radio operator living the the Oregon woods receives a distress call from a stranded Soviet cosmonaut in orbit during the 1960s.

Enjoy! I’d be interested to hear how you like these if you decide to watch.
