For those that did not have a chance to track Sunday's 26 mile marathon I'm enclosing a word picture document of the 30 second reports by the lead bicycle (see below). This was the result of a three week crash program to come up with a system to track multiple APRS units in one event without packet collisions through a process of time-slotting. Two new digipeaters were installed at La Cumbre Peak and La Vigia Hill. In addition, the packet positions were fully available within a couple of seconds on the worldwide web. All packet reports of this event are kept in storage by for a period of time if anyone is interested in looking at the total packet picture. I am resending Shaw Takeuchi's email about using aprs.fi.

A great deal of thanks go to all the individuals who played a  big part in pulling this packet reporting system together. The APRS packet system on 145.63 will remain intact for future events.

I keep seeing web posts saying “click on aprs.fi” – which will either take you to somewhere out of USA by default, or sometimes displays Los Angeles area (don’t know why).  You can send people ‘links’, make bookmarks, or create shortcut on your desktop with the following URL parameters to make your life easier:

Example 1: Show all stations in 93111 zip code area w/ zoom level 13, last 15 minutes only -

http://www.aprs.fi/?addr=93111&z=13&timerange=900

Example 2: Same as Example 1 using different overlays -

http://www.aprs.fi/?addr=93111&z=13&timerange=900&mt=m
http://www.aprs.fi/?addr=93111&z=13&timerange=900&mt=k
http://www.aprs.fi/?addr=93111&z=13&timerange=900&mt=h

Example 3: Track and show KI6WEL only w/ zoom level 14 –

http://www.aprs.fi/?call=ki6wel&z=14

Example 4: Track and show N6OLT only w/ zoom level 14 –

http://www.aprs.fi/?call=n6olt&z=14

Note the last two examples will ONLY show your target call-sign movement – all other trackers, WX in the area are NOT shown (which could be a good thing on a congested map).

This link describes how to control your initial views  such as zoom level, center lat/lon/zip, set history time, set map types, etc.
