Hi All –

I attended Bernie’s memorial service this afternoon. Knowing him even for as short a time as I did it was obvious to me that he would have had a lot of friends, and indeed he does. The service was held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran church on North Fairview Avenue and was well attended.

The minister spoke of the wonder of death! As Cain was standing over Abel’s body, he must have been amazed and full of wonder! It was the very first death – until then no one had ever died. The minister also spoke of the wonder of death as such an unknown to us all. The wonder of life after death – what will that be like? The wonder of Christ dying on the cross to secure our place in that heaven!

As I sat there I was full of wonder, too; I wondered why I was the only SBARC member there!

PS – Come to think of it, where were all of Dick Johnson’s friends when his memorial service was held at the Elks Lodge in Goleta? There was only a hand full of SBARC member’s there.
