To All My
Friends at SBARC
On Saturday during my weekly visit at the club Red Cross station
I was surprised and presented with a beautiful brass plaque in
recognition for establishment of a telecommunications building
at La Vigia. Needless to say I shall accept this on behalf of
all the team work by scores of amateur radio operators. Since
1975 from a modest garden shed and tube repeater the club
engaged in agreements with the City of Santa Barbara Public
Works to build a communications shelter. It took 5 years to the
day from start to receiving a building permit in 2011 This is a
first class facility to house not only repeaters and microwave
but offers a test facility for new projects. With business
guidance from Andy Seybold, w6ams and Al Soenke, wa6vnn, the
build out took several years to complete. As SBARC enters its
101 st year I am passing the baton to the next generation of
excellent engineers and technicians. Now that I'm pushing 90 I
hope to continue working with the team but shall scale back a
little.
Thanks everyone for all the kind words. My best
to all and wish you all great success.
Sincerely
