More repair work

Below is a picture of what we call "H" frames. Antennas are fed with open wire and since it is some distance between the antennas and the buildings, multiple wooden structures like this are used. Over time the weather, carpenter bees, and even termites make it necessary to  get in and do repairs.

Equipment on the south lead to the antenna field.

This type of work requires cranes, boomlifts, all terrain forklifts which are costly and efforts are coordinated to get as much done per deployment as funds allow. If you would like to help support this work you can use the link below to donate through PayPal or send your gift to:

Operations suspended - KPH, K6KPH, KFS

No change to the following:

Point Reyes National Seashore has closed park visitor centers and announced that all volunteer activities are suspended.  Since that includes us, all station operations will be suspended "for the duration".

Correspondence

I saw a unique e-mail address so I reached out to Dale VE7YTB and this is the wonderful response that came back on 2 August 2020.

Hi Robert, Thank you for your email. We are restoring a 1944 navy tug. We are modeling the various aspects of the radio room to reflect the capabilities of KPH radio. We use tube Marconi CM11 radio with radiotelephone and radiotelegraphy gear. We have working RTTY, a Wheatstone perforator and Boehme transmitter. KPH is a major inspiration.
We are very lonely without you on the airwaves. We sorely miss your SDR site as well.

RCA R3 Dual Diversity Receiver

The unit in the above picture is an RCA R3 Dual Diversity receiver which resides in one of the side rooms at RS (Point Reyes). The receiver is quite tall as you see a step to reach the top portions and a handle which is out of the frame of the photo.

An in depth story has been written back in 2012 and some of us were not members or subscribers so rather than redo a story I will direct you to a back issue of the MRHS Newsletter No. 16 from 18 September of that year.

Click on the photo to access the back issue and in depth story.

Relay

This small article was in the Spring 1968 edition of Relay which was a corporate publication of RCA Global Communications.

This building that currently stands at BL (Bolinas) is where the generator mentioned in the article above was housed.

Frequency Measuring

Last month some frequency measuring equipment was featured and this advertisement was just found in a June 1936 RCA Broadcast Trade Magazine. The last address listed is Point Reyes, California.

Thursday 22 October 2020 Richard Dillman was Guest Speaker for the San Diego Yacht Club Amateur Radio Group Zoom meeting. Richard is a dynamic speaker and had quite a few historical photos going back over 100 years and the days of Marconi at Bolinas and Marshall. Thank you to those that joined and watched the presentation and thank you Richard for a very informative and well prepared event!
