As many of you know, Chip Angle (N6CA) of Angle Linear, a luminary of the RF world, retired from his highly successful business last year after a few years' consideration. For over 35 years, he hand-crafted some of the industry's most sought after products that aid our communications systems in being all they can be. Like a Swiss Clockmaker, he is a craftsman in an arena requiring precision and quality. We all were sad to see his great products become unobtanium, but we can all appreciate an accomplished man wanting to close a chapter of his life & enjoy the fruits of his labor.

Having known Chip a number of years now, and being aware of his intent to retire, I'd reached out to him in a couple discussions of the topic. I offered a true interest in learning, continuing the essence of his products, and hopefully enjoying similar success as he over time. We reached agreement, and he gave me many helpful pointers to get started. I am extremely thankful for his willingness to work with me & his invaluable help. He is not only a skilled craftsman, but a true gentleman. Again, a big thank you, Chip!

And so, the torch has been passed! As with any new venture, there will be a process of ramping up. The intent is to offer many of the same core elements formerly of Angle Linear, and of like quality. Time will tell exactly the shape taken given market demands, customer feedback, the ongoing learning process, and evolving technologies in general.

Today, I am equipped to offer standard high quality PHEMT preamplifiers. Under design are new High Level (High Intercept) preamplifiers as well. Custom fabricated filters, splitters and other accessories are not available today, but are anticipated later. As a stepped process, the idea is focusing on the essential items & graduate into greater capability as time progresses. Eventually 'total-package' type solutions would ideally be available such as drop-in multicoupler systems or single system cavity-plus-amplifier assemblies. Bear in mind, as opposed to more mass production items, this remains a small-scale business producing custom-to-order products. While standard guilelines of design exist, each is tailored to the individual user's need within practical limits.

The currently available PHEMT preamplifiers enjoy the same operating specifications as their Angle Linear predecessors. They are unconditionally stable, port matched, a +/-10% optimized operational bandwidth, have moderate gain (12-22dB dependent on band), and enjoy very low Noise Figure (.4dB typical). The chassis is a rugged fully shielded cast aluminum enclosure with connectors at its top, power supplied through an RF-bypassing feed through capacitor & ground lug along with transient suppression diode. Standard connectors are Type N jacks. Other connector types available by special order (BNC, TNC, SMA). Our preamplifiers can be cascaded with high-Q filters/cavities without worry of oscillation or skewing filter responses.

We are currently equipped to offer primarily UHF (400-520MHz) band preamplifiers. Other bands will be available as parts stock is accumulated. Standard pricing is $120 per unit plus shipping, and turn-around is typically between 14 and 45 days depending on stock conditions. (Chassis and other large parts are batch ordered and not quantity stocked at this time)
