Hi all,
From previous emails most
of you know that I volunteered to assist an elderly
gentleman get rid of a lot of stuff that he had collected
over many years. That gentleman is now 95 or 96, and
totally not capable of dealing with all of this. This past
year I have received from his location lots of old radios,
electronic gear, tubes, etc. in rather large quantity.
However, about 3 weeks ago I received what is likely the
last load, to be distributed to whomever would like it.
The vast majority of this
last load (but not all of it) is many thousands of tubes.
That number is likely between 30,000 and 40,000 tubes! My
wife and I spent nearly two weeks sorting them all out in to
some reasonable groups, based on size, pin numbers, base,
purpose, size, or criteria like that. We're done with that,
and would like the space in our back yard empty.
So, here's what we have in
mind. For those who want specific tubes you are welcome to
come and look at them, and decide which ones you would
like. After all we've done, searching is not something we
care to do. So, our preference would be to sell the tubes
rather inexpensively in BULK form. Here's what we have, and
a rough idea of bulk costs.
1) We have 20 boxes of
tubes that are still in their appropriate boxes, and each
box contains perhaps 200 to 600 tubes. We'd like to get
about $20 to $30 per box.
2) We have 36 boxes of
tubes that are in "bare" form, meaning no original box.
Each box contains anywhere from 300 to 1000 tubes, depending
on size. We'd like to get $10 to $15 per box of this group.
3) We have about 10 flats
of tubes, only 1 layer deep, with all the labels on top and
oriented correctly so you can easily spot what you are
looking for. Each flat has 100 to 200 tubes, or so. We'd
like to get $15 to $20 per flat.
4) We have 4 Hickok tube
testers, all clean, in quite good shape, but untested. My
guess is that they either work, or are close to working,
based on their condition. These go for a good price on
eBay, but you can get them in the $50 to $100 range.
5) We have 4 Stereo
receivers, all in working order. Need a cheap sound
system? Looking for about $10 each.
6) Speciality tubes. Some
special purpose tubes are boxed separately. e..g. I have
quite a few 811 linear output tubes, plus 6L6, 6V6, 5R4,
etc. in separate boxes. Open to offers.
7) We have another
Hammerlund SP600 SW receiver, plus numberous Nationals, HP
AC voltmeters, switches, coilwinder, and stuff to lookat and
make a low offer.
8) We have a huge amount
of Maxell C90 cassettes, in bulk packs of 20 or 24 cassettes
each. These packs go for about $70 each on Amazon. Yours
for about $10, or about 50 cents per new cassette.
9) We also have a huge
amount of 120 Video Cassettes in new packages and bundles.
Very cheap.
10) We have 3 working,
heavy duty Variac's. Two of them are single core, one is
triple core. Clean and in working order.
Make an offer.
11) And finally, a number
of electronic items that contain great switches, parts, or
use them as is.
I just took one of the
switching devices, and removed the huge switches from
inside. I used them to create a really great antenna switch
that allows 1 of 6 radios connected to 1 of 6 antennas, as
you wish. The incredible switches have contacts that are
most substantial, to put it mildly. Here's what is
interesting. When I tune up the HF radio, and load up the
amplifier, the amplifier now puts out between 100 to 150
more watts simply due to the incredible contact points in
the switch I put together with these parts.
So, if any of this is
interesting to you, please give me a call or email, and we
can see what is of interest to you.
BTW, all funds received
from any of this go to the care of the elderly gentleman. I
don't get one cent of any of it, but am taking care of this
because I made a promise many years ago.
