Adrian:

Per you suggestion, I am in the process of conducting the "battery test" per
an article under symptom #3 that addresses "scans twice, plays nothing". I
did the actual battery test (tip of the RCA center pin to the negative D cell
and the positive side to a ground) - nothing. So I continues on the next part
of the test Readout or Trip. Since it does play all B sided of records, the
Readout can be eliminated. That leaves the Trip Circuit Problem. The article
states that there are three screw terminals: Read-out Source, Read-out Load
and Trip Relay. I have the SCC3 unit. I also have a diagram of the SCC4 and
neither of these have the Trip Relay screw terminal. The article acknowledges
that many of the 100 units did not have this terminal, but then proceed to go
on and tell you that you need to rotate the connect link between the Read-Out
Source and the Read-out Load to now connect the Read-out Load and the Trip
Relay....any suggestions as to how this can be done if there is in fact no
Trip Relay Screw terminal? The Tormat Memory Assembly show in my manual is Type
160TM4. It shows two leads (Cable Assembly Blue and Cable Assembly Red) Mine
only has a since cable (two wires) that I would guess has both the Blue and
the Red, since there is only one "connector" on the side of my SCC3.

Thank you,

Roy

Hi Roy,
Glad you got that problem fixed! The A side problem is something completely
different. Start by doing the "battery test" on the Tormat to discover if
it's a write in or read out problem. For a write in problem you will be
looking at the keyboard. If it' a read out problem then it could be the
reversing switch contacts you mention - or the contact that follows the A
side row of rivets on the Tormat. Use the manual and work methodically and
you will get there!!

side B

Adrain:

Yours was the final push to just simply remove and completely dissemble the
clutch unit...thank you. I completely dissembled the unit and then polished
each and every piece of the unit, reassembled it and now the unit
plays....at
least on side B. When you make a side A selection it just scans and returns
to
the home position. But if you are scanning... going from left to right and
then manually trip the lever it will load the record and play it. I would
guess I am dealing with the switch/contact once it switches form right to
left
travel to left to right?

Thanks again Roy

...Did you look at the clutch lubrication?? In my experience this fault is
usually caused by a sticking clutch. It's difficult to get at, you may need
to remove it completely to clean it properly.

then it rejects

OK so I have posted this numerous times and done whatever was suggested
previously and it still does the same thing. I have now rebuilt the
AutoSpeed
unit, in hopes that too would resolve the problem. So now I am taking
different
approach. I have cut the wires to the trip switch and have disconnected
the
wires to the reject switch on the back. What other wires do I have to
disconnect to naturalize the reject circuit?
